 Alain Saint-Joanis is a family firm established in 1876 and still run by members of the Saint-Joanis family producing quality flatware suitable for both informal and formal dining. The company is located in the village of La Monnerie in Thiers, Puy-de-Dome, Auvergne which  is the traditional center of cutlery and flatware manufacture in France. The area first gained prominence via the Laguiole knife and its acceptance as a premier product.

 Initially a manufacturer of cutlery the Alain Saint-Joanis company welcomed the introduction of new technologies and adapted to create unique designs in a variety of finished including stainless steel, silver and gold plate. They differentiate the product lines from most other companies by offering a huge selection of attractive handle and bolster designs and marrying this with top quality carbon steel blades. The whole product is then hand assembled and hand polished to produce superb flatware which is  dishwasher safe.

Top of the Saint-Joanis range the prestige collection combines a huge selection of superb designs in silver plate (including antique silver finishes), gold plate and stainless steel. In addition to the superb flatware Saint-Joanis offer two steak knives - Chateaubriand and Laguiole. The Chateaubriand is a lovely, chunky but well balanced knife in a variety of natural woods whilst the famous Laguiole knife is available in a several finishes including silverplate, natural wood and mother of pearl.
